CONNECTPlus now supports NHS login, giving patients one secure way to access care across every partner trust
HCI is pleased to announce that NHS login is now live as a capability within CONNECTPlus, our clinical connectivity and patient engagement platform used by NHS trusts across the UK. Patients at every trust using CONNECTPlus can now sign in using the same secure NHS login they already use for the NHS App and other NHS digital services - with no separate registration or new credentials required.
What's changed
Previously, patients accessing CONNECTPlus needed to register and manage a separate set of login details specific to the platform. With NHS login now built in, patients can authenticate using an identity they likely already hold, verified to NHS Digital's standards, and get straight into their CONNECTPlus experience.
This is available across our full trust network rather than a single pilot site - every NHS partner currently live on CONNECTPlus benefits from this update.
Why it matters
For patients: one fewer password to create, remember, or reset, and a login journey that feels consistent with the rest of their NHS digital experience.
For trusts: it means less time spent on patient login support and account recovery queries, and closer alignment with NHS England's wider strategy to make the NHS App - and NHS login as its underlying identity layer - the "digital front door" for patient-facing services.
For HCI: it reflects our ongoing commitment to reducing barriers between patients and their care, and to building CONNECTPlus in step with national NHS digital standards rather than around them.
What's next
We'll continue to work with our trust partners to support rollout and answer any questions about the transition. If you're an existing CONNECTPlus partner and would like more detail on how this affects your patients or your team's workflows, please get in touch with your HCI account contact or email info@hci.digital.
Our Managing Director, Hugh Kelly, highlighted something that doesn't always make it into our company updates: "This was built by a small team, working to NHS identity standards, handling the technical detail with real care so that patients never see any of the complexity behind it. That's not a small feat, and I'm genuinely proud of what the team has delivered here. It's the kind of milestone that quietly shows the deep-seated capabilities and strengths of the HCI team."
